#8 - 33rd & Emerson Ave. S., looking North, 6-24-2011.
4" x 11" ink and brush wash on Bristol vellum.  (sold)

With all the changes in the Uptown area of Minneapolis in recent years, I like that the
residential neighborhoods and alleys have stayed mostly the same over time.

This was a quick pen sketch while out walking.  I grabbed a few of our daughters
crayola markers off the table when I returned.

#3 - 60th & Wentworth Ave. S.  5-6-2011 (5"x8" sketchbook - pencil and watercolor)
I wanted to get back to doing these...or get started, really.  It was also an excuse to experiment a little.  I found out with this one that standing at the end of alleys wasn't going to be the best way to do this....sometimes maybe, but not always.  I started grabbing a camera after this, just in case saw an interesting one and couldn't stop to sketch.

#2) 39th and Pleasant S.

#2)  39th and Pleasant S., March 8, 2011 (acrylic in a pocket sketchbook-2.5 x 3.75")

I was looking for something to sketch one afternoon
while walking the dog.  I penciled it there, and finished it here.

The first one.
A quick acrylic sketch in a pocket size Moleskine, Feb.25 2010, 7p.m.  I've always liked the alleys in the Twin Cities.  They're far more interesting than the streets out in front of the houses.  I kept going back to this sketch, thinking I should do more of these.  It took a while to get back to it, but I thought I'd set a goal of 100 (Minneapolis) alleys in a variety of mediums (sketches, drawings, paintings, prints, collages, etc.).  I hope to keep a semi regular posting schedule......starting soon.

Thanks for looking!
