This was from a photo (part of a larger group of photos) taken the
previous summer.  My friend Chris S. was in town visiting and
he was kind enough to help me out with his time and photo talent.  We
drove around South and Southeast Minneapolis looking for interesting
alleys.  I drove - he snapped - we came back with a lot to work with.
I sorted out a bunch to use for longer sittings, or when I can't get out with
a sketchbook, or want to try something different.  Some months later,
another friend and I did the same downtown.  I plan to do that again a
couple more times before I'm done.  It's been a great way to keep this
moving along.

This one is near by.  There are a couple old garages here that caught my attention.
They look almost unchanged since they were built...well, except for the changes that time, gravity, and the weather have had.  There are still some out there that have the original siding, small windows, odd doors and hardware.

These have me interested in experimenting more.

I've always liked primitive print making.  There's a surprise with every pull.
This day I was trying water based block ink on glass.  I think I made about 8-10,
but kept three.  This one has a nice ghostly feeling to it.

With all the changes in the Uptown area of Minneapolis in recent years, I like that the
residential neighborhoods and alleys have stayed mostly the same over time.
